His silence drew me in, even as it sent shivers down my spine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His daughter, Nayuma, barely spoke. She spent her afternoons in her workshop, lost among gears and metal parts. Slowly, she began to trust me.<br>\u201cDad talks about you a lot,\u201d she murmured one day, eyes still fixed on her work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hodari sometimes mentioned Leta, his late wife, but only briefly, almost fearfully. And a woman appeared before me.<br>Pale skin.
